• CIDNY has three offices across NYC. Residents 14 and older (parental consent is required for underage participants) of any NYC borough with disabilities, regardless of immigration status (some reimbursement and benefit programs are tied to SSDI and are unavailable to some non-citizens) can be served. Many programs are tied to employment, so a valid work permit, Green Card, or US citizenship is required.
• Services Include* and are available in many languages with accommodation for the deaf, blind, and people with other challenges. All facilities are ADA-compliant:
• Information and referral, nutritional outreach, job readiness, peer support, and independent living (for example, during readjustment after returning home from a nursing facility)
• Free training, reasonable accommodation, transportation expense reimbursement, affordable housing, and benefits (compensated through Social Security only for people with a qualified disability, income, and immigration status)
• * People convicted of a sex crime are not served.
