Staten Island Center for Independent Living (SICIL)

• Information and referral, peer support, and independent living
• Assistance to sign up for public services and enroll in a nursing home (for Medicaid recipients, additional requirements apply and vary by home)
• Planning for exiting from a nursing home, employment, and education support through the Open Doors Program
Help is offered primarily to people with physical and mental challenges. Everyone else can be referred to HeartShare for Con Edison bill assistance and other government supports
People with a criminal record of sexual violence are not served.

• Open Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM

• You must call or email to make an appointment. A referral from your nursing home's case manager is needed for Open Doors, and your consent is required. They are closed for lunch daily from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
